The Zero-Emission Shipping Mission is an ambitious, global public-private partnership between countries, the private sector, research institutes, and civil society to help develop, demonstrate, and deploy a zero-emission maritime value chain of fuels, ships, and port infrastructure together by 2030.
The Zero-Emission Shipping Mission was decided upon in 2021 - as one of seven Missions under Mission Innovation. At the time, the Mission's founding co-leaading members, identified a need to address global shipping sector's Greenhause Gas Emissions
- and to do so by emphasizing public-private R&I & knowledge sharing activities to help ensure decarbonization of the shipping value chain.
